The first and final chapters of the story in the official campaign deal with the city of Neverwinter itself, but the lengthy mid-story requires the player to venture into the countryside and then northward to the city of Luskan. In the original NWN scenario supplied with the game engine, the player is single-handedly responsible for defeating a powerful cult collecting the four reagents required for stopping an insatiable plague thwarting an attack on the city of Neverwinter, and many other side quests. Play centers on the development of a character who becomes the ultimate hero of the story. The core release includes the game engine, a campaign that can be played as single player or multiplayer, and the Aurora toolset (for Windows only) used for creating custom content based on the same engine. The game was named after the original Neverwinter Nights online game, the first graphical MMORPG, which ran from 1991 to 1997 on AOL. The belief was this model would create a potentially infinite massively multiplayer game framework. The game was based on the concept of building an internet-like model for a massively multiplayer game, allowing the end users to host the server. On October 31, 2006, the sequel Neverwinter Nights 2 was released followed by its first expansion in late 2007 and its second one at the end of 2008. Two expansion packs were released in mid and late 2003, and a third in 2005.

And you can also buy physical versions for Windows XP, you just need to update the game using The Neverwinter Vault’s archived updates since the game has lost support since the mid 2010’s.Neverwinter Nights (NWN), produced by BioWare and published by Infogrames (now Atari), is a third-person perspective computer role-playing game that is based on third edition Dungeons & Dragons and Forgotten Realms rules. Overall, this game is awesome! You can get it on GOG as well if you have a high end computer fitted with newer windows software. Mask Of The Betrayer is one of the most underrated and compelling RPG stories of this generation, and Storm of Zehir is a wonderfully charming Side Story to the main campaign. And the community modules from the NeverwinterVault and Nexus Mods are the icing on the cake! There really is an unprecedented amount of replay-ability with this game. It’s a fantastic experience! And it’s expansions are just as fantastic. It may not be as polished or graphically impressive as most titles of today, but it’s story and soundtrack make up more than enough for it! If you have a high end computer rig, like a Dell Precision M6700, fitted with Windows XP and an AMD FirePro M6000 graphics card with 2.7 GHz CPU Capability, I highly recommend giving this game from 2006 a try. It got me through some tough years in middle school, and it inspires me to become an artist as an adult. For every Witcher 3 or God Of War or Skyrim or Breath of The Wild out there, there will always be a place in my heart for this game.

I loved jumping into this fantasy world as Alsmen Blackwell, the farmer turned knight, and the quest going from a journey away from home to a full blown war. I love this game with all my heart! It’s one of my absolute favorite games, and with good reason.
